Dodgeman, I feel your pain, we just went through a cold snap of -30C, Its +5C today, Goody. Another 5 degrees and everyone breaks out the shorts and sandals.

Old School, I worked In Newcastle a few years back and what a strange state. Not a lick of snow in Newcastle in January, Drive straight north an hour and bam, more snow than I've seen in years back home in Alberta.

7 degrees (-10 wind chill) when I fired it up this morning. Had some white smoke for a while and took about 10 miles for the temp gauge to move.
Will a normal timer, the ones used for lighting, handle the current draw of the block heater. May have to plug in tonight and don't want to leave it plugged in (ie. "on") for 8 hours.

I thought I had it bad this morning, firing up the truck @ 9 degrees, windows frozen shut, driving to work with the engine temps barely hitting the warm mark, then as I came onto base, I saw the Security Forces troops standing their posts, checking IDs at the perimeter gates.
My problems with the cold weather seem very trivial all of a sudden.

Huge salute to those who serve.

It's supposed to be in the 20's here during christmas. Better than the -4 they were predicting. In oklahoma where I'm going it's supposed to be 18*. I hate the cold. I think almost as much as dd4x4.

I doubt it. From what I hear, Dieseldude4X4 dislikes the cold in a rather serious manner.

Chrisreyn, I have a news flash. In December in Manitoba we are delighted by temps as high as those u describe in your post. At this joyous time of year, we thought it only fair to send you some of this unseasonably warm weather. Now don't be looking a gift horse in the mouth, or we'll send you some REAL Canadian December weather. Furthermore, if you folks down there don't cease and desist sending all that dang warm air up here to melt our snow, create freezing rain, and ruin our sledding there may be a really big surprise in store for you. Have a nice day.
Rick
