Stupid weathermen!

Anyone want 10 bales of prime mulch hay?

Got fans and blowers on them now but I doubt it will help.
Will spreading salt over the bales help out? I've seen my friend do that with hay that was too moist when it was baled. He would get salt from the grain elevator and spread it over all the bales. I'm not a hay expert, I just stack them on the wagon for him and help out.

Rained here from 0800 till about 1300, now its sunny. Cleared prt of the property this morning with dad for his friend. Got to wet to keep working and dad lost a seal on the gear box on the mower deck. It's a big comercial toro mower, deck is in front and the engine is in the rear. So the whole unit has oil slung all over it and dad got oiled pretty good too! Got it back to the shop, cleaned off and apart. Can't go for parts till monday so it's gonna sit. Nice unit, it has a 72" cut and is powered by a 3 cylinder Mitsubishi Diesel. I think he's gonna use the tractor and the bushhog when we go back and finish the job.

I don't know if that would work either. Never heard of it but it sounds reasonable. I'll let the barn manager make the decision... nothing I do would be right anyway. This was more than moist. You could wring water out of the parts that were directly exposed

Sunny here too. Probably because I'm not moving hay now.

Sounds like you had the kind of day I had. At least I'm in good company.

Just had a 90 foot bucket truck dropped off to me to paint. Gigantic aluminum utility body on a tandem axle International. First big job I've had since last summer. Glad for the work but this thing is BIG!

Scott, my friend would salt the bales if they felt "hot" to the touch which meant they were still moist inside. Salting periodically for a few days dried them out. The hay didn't mold or carmalize either! One thing about the salt on them, the cows he feeds the hay to LOVE it! They run to the feeder when he puts that hay in it and eat it up fast. I dunno if salting will work with soaking wet hay but it won't hurt to ask.

Glad you got a big job coming up.

Today was just one of those days...

I don't know if it would work for horses... they colic at the drop of a hat! It'd be interesting to see what he has to say about it all tho.

Scott, my friend said the cows love it but horses tend to be picky about what they eat. Thats from his experience.

Sounds good. I haven't been keeping up, all I know is your turbo failed. Was there any other damage or is the engine ok?

Not from what I could tell.. I pulled the intake horn off and cant seem to find any shrapnel anywhere. I've already pulled the manifold and turbo off. Looks like the compressor wheel smacked the housing and took about a 1/16 of the blades off. I'm going to shopvac out the intercooler on Monday

Sounds good Eric. Did you get any oil in the I/C? Most of the time when I've replaced a turbo it seems like they all oiled the I/C and the rest of the intake piping or they oil the exhaust.

Nope.. I seemed to have blown it the best way possible. I have about 1/8 inch spine movement in all directions. You can see where the blades smacked the walls tho
