Well, "sux" depends on the toys, err, tools and machines available.

1ac = sux with push mower without forward propel
1ac = not so sux with a riding mower, hair blowing in the wind as you cruise on 4th gear +

Yard work sux in heat when everything is dry and of course it's windy too. You end up with a garden down the back of your shirt.

haha But I hear you, it isn't necessarily fun. At least not recently with all these allergens bombarding everything. It really makes the chores worse.

Bansh-eman ... we looked at the DR Horton models (and all the rest too) out there in Houston too. Nice places. You sure you want to live that close to your neighbors ??

Not sure where you are looking, but if you want to get a new house and some decent land (acre lots), let me know and I'll get you in touch with our realtor ... real good dude. I assume you are doing a VA loan ??

We're out in the Magnolia area ... nice and quiet !!

EDIT .... I just looked at the rest of the posts ... too late. Congrats on the new place !! Maybe we can just get together and have a cold one to celebrate !!

Cheers,
PISTOL

We found a house off Nichols Saw Mill that we liked with a nice chunk of land, but we couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a house that is already 10 years old with no energy effeicentcy. We know we are going to be selling in 5-7 years, so we decided it would be in our best interest to build new and only spend the extra 5k bucks on a brand new house, save a little money and buy some land to build ondown the road.

My brother and my sister both live in Magnolia. I am always down for a few brews.

Your plan sounds like ours. We were figuring 3-5yrs in this first house then either upgrade or if we've got the money get some land and build.

We are going to try and find a few acres while we are in this house and pay it off... Just need to find the right area.

Cool.

Congrats on the new place! Have fun moving in. Oh, and definitely have a garage sale by the first year to get rid of any accumulation that never made the declutter cut before each PCS. We made ~1k extra this month in ours

I already did the garage sale lol... When I got all my junk out of TMO, I didn't have enough space to put it all so we got rid of alot of crap. But I am sure I could find a little more

Oh yeah, you can always find more. My husband started to get a bit of "seller's OD":

Him: Sweetie, you think anyone would want our couch and love seat?
Me: Yes, but then we will have to sit on the floor

We were a bit lucky coming from overseas that in our transition out we got 6mths free storage and delivery on request. Our real task was to get closed on a house before our storage time ran out. Otherwise the gubmint would have had a garage sale of their own
