gots my hopes up for a race. oh well. VIDEOS ANYHOW! I so want a boat but going to wait until I get back to Idaho in 3 years. living 1/2 mile from the lake (17 miles long) is going to drive me nutty until I get one
you guys running hot/fast boats: BE CAREFUL
80-110 mph on the water is much different than on land...all it takes is one stray wake to ruin your day
we don't want to start any memorial threads!

Misunderstood your posting. Sounded like you wanted to run the Skater. That Skater would walk away from me like I was standing still. As far as singles running with me there are alot faster than me until we start hitting some real water. I get it all the time leaving Liberty state park. Ill Cruz out 45 to 50 and Ill almost always get a jet ski run up along side and take off. When you start to get out by the statue the seas are usually 3 to 5 on a good day. I can run right through. Your right about some of the best times being on the water. Sorry if you took offense to my posting
When I was in my early 20's a friend took me to the marina in Clear Lake (Houston/NASA) where the cigarette boats were kept. It was quiet, hardly anyone around. Most of the boats were out on the lake. There was one gentleman working on his boat. We start chit-chattin with him, asking him about his boat as he is polishing the blower on one of the three big-blocks tucked nicely in the back. I forget the name of the boat. I wanna say 007. I say something along the lines of "Its a really gorgeous boat...I would like to have something like that someday". He says "Son, let me tell you something. The best boat you could ever have..is your friends boat". I have yet to own a boat, but I understood exactly what he meant. That was over 20 years ago.
About the same timeframe, the same friend invited me to go out on another boat. I was told it was what they were calling the cigarette boats, about 40'. I was excited. We got to his buddies house (he had a slip behind his house) and I saw the boat. It was nice, but I a bit disappointed to see "only" 3, 250hp-275hp outboards on this boat. Add to disappointment was the fact that about 8 people were going to be in the boat. Two of them being the buddies elderly parents. He took it kind of easy but several times he laid into the throttle at the bottom of a swell, got the boat out of the water at the crest and was able to land it soft enough without snapping anyones neck. I had more fun than I thought I would.

No offense taken. I'll use about any excuse to get on the water.
We rode in the Baja "Poker Face" boat at a Baja GTG 3 years ago on Lake Conroe. All I can say is WOW what a ride hitting 100mph on gps with I think twin 750sci Mercs. The Baja rep Jason Bilmeyer, that's all he did was drive around the country matching ride/boat promoting Baja....what a gig!

Good thread guys!
Man,....some of you here on DTR have got some REALLY NICE boats!
I don't have anything to really compare with what has been posted here, but here is a link to my 1960 "Glasspar G-3 Skiboat":

This boat has been in my family since my Dad bought it new for my older Brother way back in 1959. He passed away and left it in his will to me. Over the last two years I restored it although the red gelcoat on the deck is ALL ORIGINAL and over FIFTY (50) YEARS OLD!
I have a new Mercury 50 H.P.
Two-Stroke with a "Bob's Machine Hydraulic Jackplate" and the boat runs almost 50 MPH.

Thank you Sir!
My Wife and I recently attended a "Glasspar" Antique Boat Rally in Tennessee.
I am trying to get a link up here with me getting some "air" over another Glasspars' Boats wake. I hope to find that today from another boats website.

Here is the link to that thread titled "Air G-3" taken by another Glasspar Owner as I went over his wake on the Tennessee River about a month ago:

I know this doesn't really compare to some of the videos and pictures you guys have posted of your "rocketship boats" but still not bad for a little boat that is over 50 years old!
