Cedar privacy fence repair??"s

A limb from my tree took out part of my fence...soooo I need to fix it. Does anyone know what makes for good purl-ins the ones that were there are reg. 2x4's and they sure warp easy.

Any tips from the pro's

2x6's work better but look heavy on a fence.

Something else you may try is placing them (2x4) on either side and sandwiching the slats, running screws thru about every 18".

Shortening the run will help too but not sure how much time you want to spend on it....
