Career Change
After putting up with listening to customers complain about why their utility bills were so high, and having younger, book learned upper management, with little or no field experience, tell me how to do my job, after 42 years, I retired two years ago.
IMHO, its the best move I have ever done.
Do I miss the hassles? NO Do I miss the comradare with the guys I used to work with? Sometimes.
At first, it DID drive the DW up a wall, but we re getting accustom to the change.
Actually, it is a godsend with my dad in failing health, its makes it easier to check on him and take care of whatever needs to be done.

I did 26 years in the military, found myself going through a police academy @ 45 years old for 20 weeks with guys half my age. Had to run, jump, do pushups & pullups again, just like bootcamp. My muscles ached but I did it and I love being a Marine Police Officer.....one of the best jobs in the state of Virginia!! I get to drive fast boats, play with guns and look at eye candy 'til me eyes ache!!!
try a field service hand for an oil field company....
I used to work with a guy that after the third 3 am call, the nurse took his cell phone away from him and told his customer that he was recovering from a heart attach and to please stop calling, she was tired of hearing his phone and he needed his rest.

What a timely thread!
As some of you know, I just wrapped up my time in the USAF, and ended my tour in the only "grown-up" job I've ever known.
So now I'm 32, unemployed, homeless, and happy. Yes, there's stress from the uncertainty, but I know things will work out and while I'd really like to know what I'm supposed to be doing next, I'm enjoying the liberty (albeit shortlived) of not having to be anywhere specific or do any particular thing.
I'm in Bismarck tonight, Minneapolis tomorrow, and Chicago on Sunday. Then I get back with my dw and wonderful daughter and we figure out what our next life is going to look like!
I supposed by all rights I should be more stressed than I am, but God has always been faithful in providing for me and my family, and I have no reason to think He has changed his mind in that area for any reason
