Poutine, could easily be misunderstood as something else. And not chicken or fish.

Ian says "we only caught like 70 a piece" Northern pike, thats some good eats! The whole french fries with gravy sounds good, the curd on there makes it a bit iffy. Is that a brown gravy like at Thanksgiving? I prefer bisquits with my gravy though......you southern boys know about that, hmmmmm, may have to head out to the local greasy spoon Monday morning and grab some.

How'd this go from "Canadian fuel prices" to poutine and tobbogans???

LoL!! Last year there was a thread that started off about tire rims and wound up with pages debating white sauce or brown sauce for legit bisquits and gravy.

Ha ha i was thinking the same thing, how did we get to this? Too funny. But back to the stolen post topic, fries and gravy= allways, never plain anymore. But to really enjoy it must add ketchup and pepper.

Yes, it's brown gravy, beef flavor. Oh and Northern Pike? We call them Jack up here. And Walleyed Pike are Pickerel. We don't eat Jack here in the hotter part of summer, only in the cold months. Flesh is much firmer then, and much better tasting. Where I live commercial fishing is the main industry. Pickerel is the catch of choice, and not only for the price it brings, it's the best tasting.

I cant believe this thread is still going! as far as the lake, that was the lake we were fishing in Ontario. private lake that you fly into, thats why we caught as much as we did. not many lunkers though. I dont eat the northerns much (I am terrible at filleting them), I love walleye, so good thing we caught a lot of those

Thank you for responding or I would have been left confused because I had never seen any lakes that looked like that in Iowa.

your tellin me man.

actually, on the drive in from thunderbay, I seriously felt like I was back in anchorage. even the treeline has a little alaska to it. kinda nice.

as far as iowa goes. I dont think they have many natural lakes (the majority I have seen are man made). minnesota however has some sweet ones, thats why it would be nice to move there next.

Poutine is a French-Canadian/Acadian food. Very good too! I can't think of one place here that does not sell it, every restaurant has it on the menu , even the drive through at McDonalds has Poutine.

If you go to quebec , they have many variations of it , the best is hamburger poutine, fries, cheese curds , and fried hamburger all mixed up then hot gravy poured on top.

Don't forget donairs guys! Even though its a Lebanese food, I have still yet to see a donair shop in the states. And pretty much every American I've talked to had no clue what they are lol. Mmmm donairs and beer, great combo
