I don't know if this is the correct place to ask but can the build date of a truck be determined from the vin number????

I don't remember what all the numbers on the vin mean, but the data plate inside the driver side door will give you the date and location of manufacturer.

 

VIN doesn't give you the build date, just the model year.

If you don't have access to the door plate,
the Dealership should be able to tell you the build date from the VIN,
as well as provide a build sheet showing all factory installed options, or lack thereof.

The engine has a build date as well on it, right?
Actually, I think the turbo does as well...

My truck for instance is a '90 dodge with an '89 Cummins with an '88 Holset turbocharger...
