Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
Hi All,
I have a `98 BR2500 and currently running Dunlop ATs. I don't like them. They stink in the snow and are real exciting in the rain. Besides a daily driver, I also use the truck to carry a 9.5' Lance. Close to 3,000lbs.
I want to replace to those tires. I saw a survey that really rated the Bridgestone Revo Duelers very high in most all catagories. I hate to by Japanense. But, I have a source (legal) to by these tires at a reasonable price.
Have any of you used them before?
I have BFGs on the wifes Jeep. They are soft and do not seem to be lasting so great. Otherwise, love the tires. Work great.
While I do not plan on wheeling the Dodge. I sometimes camp in sloppy spots and will be driving in the snow from time to time.
That Bridgestone looks like a good compromise tire.
The BFG Commericial TAs look extremely good. Not sure if I can get them in a 285/75x 16
Your opinions are most appreciated.

Re:Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
Hi Gonzo,
Thanks for the reply. I checked out your pictures. Those are not at all the same series tires that I am looking at. In this survey I looked at. their other tires did not fair out anywhere near as good as these. Surprisingly, BFG did not do that great. Not really bad. Just not in the top 2 or 3 like I would have thought.
This was done buy a tire shop. Not a Bridgestone Firestone distributor. They sold all kinds of tires.
Their catagories included things like snow traction, tread wear, would you buy them again, mud traction, rain, handling, etc. Oh, Warrantee.
So, I will have to wait to hear from someone that actually is running the current series Revo Dueler ATs. I don't think they would set the woods on fire off road. But, for my designated purposes, they "looked" to fit the bill.
Mud tires generally do not make good all around snow tires and the tread wears out faster. Yes, they tend to hold up better on rocky, gravelly roads.
A few makes do sipe their mud tires. That does help in the snow , on wet roads and on the rocks for traction.
See ya

Re:Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
P Stevens,
I have the Bridgestone Dueler A/T in a 285/75/16, had them since April 2002. They have about 27K on them, and if I get to 30K I will be lucky. They are a nice tire, but on a diesel they wear awfully fast. I bought them because that is what the owner of the tire store ran on his Jeep, so I figured they would be a good tire. Cannot say they aren't but there is a big difference between a Grand Cherokee and a Cummins.
From the threads I have been reading and the people I talk to, people tend to lean towards the BFG A/T, which is what I am buying before the end of the month, becasue they are on sale. I am not going to mount them until I absolutely have to, hate to waste money on tires before they are shot.
Just my .02, hope this helps.

Re:Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
I am running the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos 265/75/16 and they have been great so far. Put them on in March and with about 18k on them they look to be wearing very well. If they continue at this rate of wear they will easily hit the 50k mark. Wet traction is awesome, dry is great as well. They have only seen snow a couple times and they did great but they were small snows. Will see what happens this winter. Haven't been in any serious mud but where I have been off road they have done fine. I have nothing but good to say about the REVO'S.
P Stevens are yours the REVO'S or the regular Dueler AT's?

Re:Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
I am glad to hear you make the destinction between the regular Duelers and the Revos. I have not purchased them, yet. I have this thing about buying stuff from overseas. But, it is hard not to anymore. From the survey I read, the regular Dueler ATs ain't much. The Revos kicked everyone's but.
Like I said before. The BFGs a great tires. But, soft. Great for traction, especially four wheeling. But, to put that Camper and the diesel on them. Hmmm, I do not need anymore spunginess or squirm.
I run the BFGs on the wife's Jeep. The tread wear is nothing to write home about. Okay, but not great, at all. I use to run the old Armstrong Norseman Radials on my CJ. They wore like iron. Fantastic service out of a tire no longer made. Go figure!
FYI. The Fun Country is simular, but not the same, at all. That is the old Armstrong bias pattern and different rubber.
Anyone run those BFG Commericial TAs? Really impressive looking and seem tough.
So, only one of you, so far runs the REVOS. The Regular Duelers we all seem to feel ain't much.
Cooper owner complained of sidewall blow out. Now that would be ugly with a camper on the truck. Not fun, anyway.
BFG's too soft.
Goodyears did not rate well at all in the survey. Sort of surprised, as the spare is OEM and a smaller Goodyear.
Hmmm, after I get the new tires in the next few months, anyone need a like new 10 ply Good Year 245? Too small for my likes. I don't think it has seen the pavement but once, if that much. When I asked the previous owner about the jack missing, he said they accidently left it behind when they had a flat in a snow storm. Still has the T*ts on the tires.
See ya! Thanks for the replies! :-
Re:Bridgestone Tires Vs. ?
Well,
I guess I will have to base my decission on the survey and one fellow that has enjoyed his Revos. If that is the case, I suppose I will need to keep you all updated on how they work, once I can swing buying them.
Shoot, they have to be better then these Dunlop ATs. Shame, Dunlop has some pretty good tires. These ain't it.
Well, thanks fo rth input, I did get.
