Break room Nov 23-29
Thought I would revive something that used to be hot and hopping but somehow died. The covid scamdemic may have had something to do with it.
The breakroom is open. Found the old, much used coffee pot and cleaned it up. Boy oh boy, was it gungy! Could not get it clean, so ended up using caustic soda in it to get it clean. Some friends just came back from El Salvador and brought me back some of their good coffee, so ground some up and made fresh coffee. Help yourself. Milk in the fridge. Good honey for sweetening next to the pot. Clean mugs on the counter. Please wash any mugs you use. It's still prickly pear season here, so skinned some and cut them up. Also cut up some dragon fruit. It's in the fridge. I worked in China for a few years and it was plentiful there and developed a taste for it. Lots in the supermarkets here to so giving you diesel sniffers something different to try. Maybe someone will bring some other nibbles.
Nice to see some fresh fruit out. Thanks Stan!
It will be many months before we have any fresh fruits grown in VT. Winter is just ramping up. Jay Peak ski area which is less than an hour away, is claiming over 95 inches of snow so far this month!
Left a small bottle of maple syrup on the counter for those who like that with their tea or coffee.
We will see who else stops into the refreshed DTR break room.

One of the reasons I love living down here is that all year round there is a very good variety of fresh fruit at a reasonable price. Also no snow. My truck has never seen snow or salty roads. I live in what is classed as a semi arid region, so combined with no salt, my truck has zero rust. Going to sell it next year, so someone will get a good truck.

Actually it did. Did some research on this and the economics don't compute, plus just to obtain the necessary parts in my location is a royal pain. Also, at this age, I really don't have any interest to get into such a major job. Been there, done that and bought a few tee shirts. Another thing that turned me against this good idea was that apparently doing this mod will drop the resale price of my truck quite a bit. In a few months will doll my truck up and sell it and buy an auto. May need to move to the dark side and give up diesel to do this.
Thinking about all that sugar is spiking my blood sugar. The coffee is good though, thanks Stan. No accumulation of snow here yet. The light dustings we have gotten have blown away. Maybe by next weekend so I will put the snowplow on. Fresh fruit, what's that. Anything we get here is already on its way out like the vegetables. Going to be another Spam Thanksgiving. No turkeys or parts of turkeys, not even a whole chicken up here. Did have a little excitement this AM, the wife plugged the toilet and flooded the bathroom. What a mess. Freeloader cat is living the easy life inside out of the cold. The 2 feral kittens are starting to think we are not so bad and don't run from us anymore. Maybe because we set out a heated shelter in a protected area on our deck. They love it.
I put a large, old cooler that I drilled a 4 inch hole in the bottom edge of it, and placed a blanket in for my cat that likes to spend time outdoors. I have it sitting on the porch out of the wind and snow for her.
Put some black tea and maple syrup on the counter. Hoping Stan brings more fresh fruit today.
Another day of snow flakes drifting around. Taking the dogs out to stoke up the fire.

I am running late today. Been all morning at a government office trying to get some paperwork sorted out. It seems that governments everywhere make simple things as complicated as possible. Make work programs.
As per Oliver's request, brought a nice 'salad' of assorted cut up fruit. Papaya, guava, watermelon, cantaloupe, prickly pear, red and green grapes and pineapple. Dig in and enjoy an extra healthy snack, Guaranteed no preservatives.
Another shorts day down here. The cooler days of winter are coming, but that is OK. At least we don't get days below zero.
Oliver, your dogs must be special it you get them to stoke the fire.
Haha Stan. I guess it is more like I stoke up the fire and they do their business in the snow. At least they make the trip out there with me and keep me company.
1° and windy taking the wind chill down to -12°. Not a fit night out for man or beast. The kittens are loving their heated quarters and heated food and water bowls. Even Tordi won't go outside. She used her cat box instead. My plans to put the snowplow on were scuddled by an unplanned trip to the ER. My computer chair tried to kill me. Nothing broken except the chair. Wrenched my back and neck so I won't be doing anything strenuous for a while. Gee Stan, nice spread, I wish I could partake. My wife did get me some hazelnut coffee to share with you all.
Leftover fruit ! Yummy! Little wilted, but still good for me.
Took the 7 hr ride, and enjoying the peace and tranquility of life as it was intended to be, and not this inane city crapola.
Foggy overnight. My Shihtzu woke me at 5am to go out and poop. Bastage refused to crap for the last 32 hours, just because. Wearing his "let it snow" sweater. Half blind, cranky cantankerous little farthead runs the roost.
Hopefully get to swing past Ollie's today.
Stan's coffee is amazing, even cold. I bet he uses a percolator from the 1960s, like i do.
Visited with my good friend Oliver and his daughter, Charlotte, and spent about an hour in Dodge paradise, chewing the fat.
Ollie and his daughter recanted the times they smacked into large mammilians with their cars, nearly losing their lives, and laughing about the experiences.
Today, i made italian coffee in my percolator, and cups are in the cupboard.
My wife picked up fresh banans, and theyre certified non ethylene treated. Rained overnight, temps near 50 today.

G'day y'all. Been very busy all morning and only now dropping in for a cuppa java.
Does anyone know if moderators exist on the site any more? Of so, who are they and how to get in touch with them? As some of you may have noticed, there are more and more bots on site, plus more and more **** related posts. Today's posts in the 4th gen are pure ****. I report these posts, but apparently nobody reads them because nothing gets done to ban and delete the bad posts. Definitely not like the old days.
At the moment I am at an altitude of just over 8,000' in my little off grid cottage in the middle of nowhere. A bit cool this morning, but the welcome sun is just starting to shine and recharge my battery bank.
