The Bacon Thread

Dang, I thought I smelled Bacon. Its funny that you started this thread bacause I just started making my first batch of Home Made Bacon. Our local IGA had pork belly from the loin end on sale so I currently have 15 pounds in the brine in the fridge on its third day. In another day its going into the cold smoker for 12 or more hours.
I have high hopes for this batch since I made the brine while drinking beer (i dont drink very much any more but usually make good stuff when cooking). I will let you know in a few days when I am done. Bacon Yes!!!! (Commen sense No). |

your wife says get your ham hocks outta the toilet though..... we have Amish on one side for us and Seneca Indians on the other. and a grocery store. hmmmmmm funny polar- we JUST had BLTs for supper. thick cut bacon. love it but that Denny's commercial makes me about to hurl thinking of a bacon milkshake... |

I am in the Salt phase of my life. If I never had another sweet it wouldn't bother me but I could NEVER give up salt. I like my bacon soft to medium...can't stand it crispy (unless broken up on a cheese/bacon/tomato sammich) |
