Any Slovakians here?

I am making my first trip to my grandfathers homeland this July, Velke Pole Slovakia.

Anyone have any background or from that area?

Looking to see anything worth seeing and learn to speak some slovak if that is what is the main language used.

I think you may be the one and only!

My countertop guy is possibly Slovakian, I'll have to ask him.

I hope you have a good trip.

Slovakia is the state directly north of Hungary.

Where i am going is about 2.5hrs (165kms) straight north of Budapest.

Sounds like it could be a neat trip.
I was curious so I went to Slovakia.org and can now say washroom (zachod).
They may have the important words to learn (like BEER).
