'98 Mercury Mistique wiring
Anyone happen to have a wiring diagram for a 98 mystique?
Heater motor quit working in my boss's wife's car and he asked me to look at it. A heater wiring diagram would help a bunch even though the system itself is relatively simple. It's just been years since I worked on that particular model.....
IIRC the had a problem melting the connectors at the motor, and the switch.....There was a TSB on them I think
Thanks for the help.....

My wife used to drive one of those Mystakes. You are correct about the problem with melting wires. Ours had the same problem and the dealer refused to supply any parts under warranty and wanted (if I still remember correctly), about $200 just for the parts, so fixed it myself.
Remove the glove box and the small horizontal cardboard panel with some insulation behind the glove box. Once that is out you will be able to see the blower motor. Right at the duct exit from the motor you will see four? wires going to a resistor block. On mine, the wires were burned at the connector to the block. Remove the entire resistor assembly (two screws?) Take note which wire goes where and clean up the resistor block. Cut the connector assembly off and install normal push on connectors to each individual wire. Connect in the right order, reinstall the resistor block and you should be good to go. This fix was still working years later when she sold the car.

The above posts explain most, There were a couple recalls and tsb's pertaining to your problem. check the blower motor and resister first but I would also look into a possible melting problem at the speed switch and connector.
Power comes out of the fuse box where there is 2 fuses 1-15amp & 1 30amp and 1 relay for the blower motor, then power goes to the blower motor, then the speed resister and then the switch. ( the speed controls are on the ground side.)

I was just looking for a diagram of the system in case that isn't the problem..... It's been 10 years since I looked at one..... My memory isn't THAT good.......
Unfortunately I cant copy/paste the diagrams from fmc. I have tried to forget about all the wiring nighmares from those vehicles. Did you ever get involved in the recall harness for the engine loom what a SOB for no pay.

Thanks for the attempt at the diagrams anyways.... If it gets real bad I'll run over to the dealer and see if I still have a friend or two there......
The car will be in my driveway tomorrow afternoon.....
