2012 Chevy Traverse Tire Light

My sister has a 2012 Chevy Traverse SUV. Every spring and fall when they change the winter tires a light comes on, on the dash, for the tire pressure system. They have to take it to the dealership each time to get the light cleared. Does anyone know is this basically just a DTC that I can clear with my OBDII reader or is it something more complicated?

I read the owner's manual last night and a tool is needed. When you change or rotate the tires you need to put the TPMS (Tire Pressure Management System) into Learn Mode and hold the TPMS Learning Tool beside the tire until the system learns the new tool.

Does anyone know what the TPMS Learning Tool is and can you buy aftermarket ones?

Yes you can, they are available through snap on for sure, and possibly other tool companies. Check with Napa first, then work your way out.

Yes you can get several aftermarket units, do a Google on it, lots of choices from $60 ish up

Thanks for bringing this up, guess I never knew you had to relearn it when you rotate tires...... I hate technology sometimes.
