Sherod,
I might not have worried about homemade ramps until a couple of years ago. A guy I met had been standing beside a homemade ramp loading a quad into the back of a pickup truck. The ramp snapped and the piece of square tubular steel that made the frame came apart with an edge like a knife. It cut him open from the groin to the knee inside his thigh. He lost consciousness the instant it happened and woke up 24 hours later in hospital with the doctors telling him he was lucky that he lived after that much blood loss. That kind of story will get your attention real quick.

Ok, I don't usually post videos but this one made me smile. This is what happens when you shoe horn a 12V Cummins into an Impala. I can't find any profanity anywhere (except in the name of the video) so I hope this is fine.

Have a great Wednesday all y'all.

17° at the airport this morning.
Due to the "aging aircraft" mandates of the FAA, a number of basic repairs are no longer allowed such as going to an oversized fastener if dis-aloud by the manufacturer. The manufacturer requires us in this case to replace the entire main spar carry through with a 1/2 million dollar new and improved version and also replace both wing main spars. Parts and labor will exceed the value of the aircraft. Basically a great way for manufacturers to limit their liability by getting older aircraft off the books. I hate to thing of what I'm going to get for a replacement, if anything.

Ok, in some sense, I can see it. There have been enough old plane issues to make anyone nervous, but most I have been aware of are for extremely old ( 60 plus years ) aircraft, and when you dig into it, there is usually a record of a questionable repair or corrosive atmosphere service aggravating it.

Wing spars are something that always make me shudder when I think of a repair....... Between working with dad for the years he worked on them, and knowing how we flew and some of his customers did, I was always amazed we never bent or broke one....... Dad's favorite trick was to be at 5000 AGL, nose her over, take her to max then haul back on the yoke about 1000 AGL and try and make you throw up......... Then look over at you and proudly proclaim " I put those wings on"........ Gotta love WW2 era types.

Cougar, wow. the business side of things: company can get $$$$ by having a fault in their inventory product. take the loss off the taxes, cut insurance or claim insurance, ect. not ready to hear about 17 degrees.

I'd like an engine for my jeep please....lol

two steps forward, one step back kinda day. I think my keyboard cat sent a half finished legal proxy to my friends....got wrong lumber and forgot to buy new wheel studs for a off road wheelchair project. went to go back downtown and it poured. waiting for the rain to stop and still have energy to do the tasks.....do dit do

sorry about yer ankle Sherod, soak in the hot tub for you.

Stopped by the Doc on the way home. X-ray done, MRI scheduled, Flexorall, and Hydocodone for 10 days. Guess I'm done wearing guns at work for a while.

Just made a order from Sporty's just to make sure I win the RV-12 they are giving away. Can't wait to go pick it up. On the way, I'll get the money that that weird talking guy on the cell told me about.

Howdy Heidi.
I am grateful I did not go to the chinese buffet today but I did have a nice big bowl of War Wonton. YUM

Carved the pumpkins with my daughter. We used real tools like a key hole saw, drill and hole saw. Had a lot of fun.

Gonna chill in the big chair tonight. Ye ole Achilles Tendon is singing this eve.

So much for being locked out...Lary emailed me the key yrs ago...matter of fact, I had the key before he logged on here many moons ago.

I tried a combination of AJAX and pumpkin seeds with the sander on my LEGGS today. Turned out purty.

My mind is messed, cuz of being a twin to the other LEGGED one.

Sorry to hear about your foot Ed, hope you get to feeling better soon!

Have a SAFE day folks! and remember what my wise old Grand-Daddy used to say...."Shut Up Kid!"

Twinner O' D' North, I left some acid in a bottle next to my desk for you....it will enhance the look of your LEGGS for your Halloween costume apply liberally to your LEGGS and watch the neat smoke curling upward as your skin bubbles and pops....lovely

Morning folks. Thanks Lary for the coffee and goodies. Woke up way too early, could not go back to sleep, so got up.

Been extra busy the last couple of days, so going to try slow down a bit today. Took a nice tumble yesterday. Tried to step over something while walking fast, caught the tip of my sneaker on it and ended up by nearly faceplanting. Now have a bloody knee and the back of one hand is skinless. Fell on to gravel. Oh well, in a few days that will just be another painful memory.

On a quick read I see that everybody posting here is pretty well "normal". I am using that term facetiously of course.

cougar, by any chance was that plane a Kingair?
