New BFG mud terrains?
Petersens 4Wheel and Offroad did a report on them last month I believe. I looked into them and that was it. I changed my mind when the salesman told me the price. I wasnt paying over $300 a piece for a 35 incher.
Haven't tried mine in the mud yet. My buddy who does a lot of rock crawling says they have thin sidewalls and has seen many tore up on the rocks. I had AT T/A KOs on there before. Dry pavement traction is worse with the MTs. Rain is about the same.
I have the A/T's and have on both my trucks...If you do any mud running at all get a better A/T or go to a M/T. The new BFG's are supposed to be ok, but the so called Tri-Gaurd is a joke compared to Goodyears MTR with Durawall...
I run 285 R17 BFG mud terrains and my brother runs them as well. They come with a pretty price. But all we use them for is truck pulling I couldn't tell you really how they wear on the road because I don't drive it that much or the mud. They sure will break parts!
Wow, I just looked at Discount Tire's Website and they are asking $320 for them now!

I paid about $250 each for mine. I thought that was outrageous, but if I had gone with the ATs they would have only been a few dollars cheaper. $320 is just insane!

So far im really happy with them. Aggressive looking, fairly smooth riding (not as smooth as the BFG ATs). I haven't been off-road with them yet, but I am guessing they will crawl through just about anything.
Mine have about 7000 miles on them now and no sign of problems with wear. It is still a little to early to accurately guestimate their mileage life. If I had to take a guess, I think they will go 45,000 to 50,000 with easy driving and regular rotations. Maybe more.

I agree they look awesome. Thanks TexasCTD, great pics
What load range are they available in? Are the side walls really a problem? How would you compare them with a Toyo open country M/T? or any of the other BFG's for that matter?

Mine are "D" Rated tires with a 3000lb load rating. Because of their size and load rating...they are not as good for towing probably as a 285 or smaller size. But that is a size issue, not a knock against the tire itself. But they will handle anything I plan to tow....including my Toyhauler.
Alot of guys like the Toyo MTs....but I know member XLR8R hasn't got very good durability out of his. They wore out pretty quick.

Thats probably because he is always so far into it his toes are hanging out the tail pipe!
I am leaning toward the toyos myself, They are what KORE ran on their Baja cummins 2500. But I am partial to the BFG's as well.

Have you ever ran the BFG MTs? I have been running the MTs on all my trucks for the past 5 years and always get a good 45 to 50000 miles out of them. I want to try something different (like the new MTs) but a little skeptical. I will probably wait to see how many mile people are getting out of them. Do they have the three ply sidewall like the Old BFG MT?
