Ford leaf spring front end
Ok so I am slowly putting the pieces together for my 4x4 set up as I am getting sick and tired of getting stuck in the snow all the time or scrambling to get through an intersection before the light turns red. Winter in Wisconsin really sucks when compared to cruising around on Camp Pendleton, CA and the surrounding areas...
Ok so I am in the market for a divorced NP205 and a Ford leaf spring front end since they are a dime a dozen. I have some cousins with quite a collection of older ford 3/4 and 1-ton 4x4's so I should have all the parts I need short of drive shafts and the like which I can custom fab. My question is if I can put a leaf spring type front end under my truck without too much trouble. I.E. steering and the frame's ability to handle the added stress up front. I figure the up towards the front of the frame behind the bumper is where the front shackle will be and that it is too light. I'm not sure on any of this and would like to tap the brain power of the 4x4 off-road gurus. I know that with a cutting torch and a welder you can make anything work; I just want to know just how difficult this will/would be.
