DRW spacers for beach driving
Hey guys...anybody take their DRW's on the beach? I was wondering how much clearance I would need between the rear wheels so I can figure out what size spacers I should buy to prevent the tires when "aired down" from touching and rubbing causing any damage to the side walls. I wish that I knew this was an issue with DRW's before I bought my new truck 2 months ago. I may have considered a SRW instead but I liked the way my first DRW(2wd) towed my 37' camper.

The best way I can think of to get your answer would be to take the outers off and air down your inner tires. Measure sidewall width before and after....the total change in width minus your fully inflated gap would be your required spacer thickness.

Thanks Crazycooter. What about any "bounce" in the tires while driving? I would think that I would have to allow a little more extra space even after taking the measurements the way that you recommend to compensate for any bounce.
