Brian:

I would sure like to see you make it down for this Brian and run that "rocketship" of yours on Wayne's Dyno![laugh] BTW,....have you run it on a dyno since you did all of your recent engine work?

Dan:

It is Wayne Murphy's (Waynes Dyno Owner) event Dan. He hosts a few of these a year not including our diesel events there.

cadash 02-27-2009 05:11 PM

Excellent!! Thank you. I will see if some of the Ford guys are interested. Maybe we can do a little grill out too!

Im pretty sure i will make it.......havent dyno this setup yet. I will probably it drive it out there. I think it will be 600-650 hp. The turbo is pretty big. Hopefully it will put enough load on it to see the normal boost ( 60lbs ). Is the operator good on big turbo trucks?

Brian:

Thanks for your reply buddy!

I would think you should be AT LEAST at 600-650 H.P.,....maybe more. Heck you are running 11.90 in 1/4 mile![laugh] I think you are going to do real well Brian.

And yes, the owner of the dyno there is Wayne Murphy. He has been running our diesel trucks there for years now and is excellent at getting the most out of the diesel trucks. As Lary Ellis (Top) said, he is a great guy too.

Wow Augie! I can't believe you would get rid of the other truck..that was the most consistent truck on the drag strip and a trophy winner ;)

Good luck with the new one :)

Top, I'm not getting rid of my crewcab,i just found a fresher 12 v from a 92 extended cab d 250. Me and McMopar are using it for pieceparts. Phil is going to attempt to graft the back of the cab onto his 74 crew and make a 1 st gen mega cab. I'm using the wire harness to replace my rat's nest and the donor has tilt and cruise control that i'm putting into mine. I don't think i would ever get rid of my cc. I'm also making it a dually. I have all dually components now i need fenders for the bed. Should be unique to say the least. I'm just wanting to make it a more comfortable and quieter truck to drive.

I don't know if you PSD guys have the problem we do getting full boost but last time I was at Waynes I was running tuning that normally got me at 48-50PSI and it was seeing 34 PSI on the dyno; when he rode the brakes hard to load it we saw 40. We just had Winston's on the dyno over at Majestic and it is a SuperFlow with eddy current loading - Winston normally gets ~55 PSI but was only getting 40, I told them to load it down, they ran a 1 second load at the beginning of the run and his gauge pegged out at 60PSI then when the load released it came back down to 54 and held it for the rest of the pull.

SuperFlows normally dyno lower than Dyno Jets but I have a feeling on a turbo vehicle it's probably not the case.

Either way Wayne will do all he can to make sure you are happy with your pulls, be ready so smell some brakes if you want to see full boost. As has been said he and his crew are top notch guys and know what they are doing.

Hey Dustin,.....did you get your truck fixed yet and how much damage did you have internally??

Thanks.

I haven't had time to even pull the motor yet. Been trying to just keep up with our customer's needs while we look for a new shop and deal with the banks about it.

I did get a good deal on a bunch of things already to get it back up and running though.
So far I have:
Block with all machine work done - honed, line bored, deck milled, ect
Main studs
Head studs
Brand new keyed crank
keyed cam
billet rods
Dual CP3 kit
Stage 2 heads - bigger valves, full port and polish, valve springs
Brand new Mahle pistons that I just need to send out to get cut and coated.

Stuff I aready had that will be going back on:
68mm modified stock turbo
Custom headers and up-pipes
90hp injectors

So all I have left is getting the pistons cut and coated then I can start assembling the engine.

While I'm doing it I will probably send my injectors out to be taken to 60% over stock. I may also send the turbo in for a refresh and have it stepped up to the 71.5mm version.

I want to run an 11 the first time it's back on the track and I'm pretty sure that even on my old tuning it will do it no problem. After getting it dialed in I want to at least run with you and Winston. Having 3 11.4 second trucks around town should make for a fun summer of racing.

Thanks for the update Dustin! Sounds like you are coming along pretty good.
Did you "window" the block when the engine let go??

OthrGrl 03-16-2009 07:03 AM

No, still starts and runs but doesn't sound pretty.

Newest update:

Got tired of waiting for a shop and not having the truck so we brought the truck out to Greenville so I can work on it from the house (I moved back in January). I sent the pistons off to SoCal Diesel be cut and coated and am also getting a cam from him. Waiting on the heads and rods to get here - then when the pistons get here the rotating assy will be getting balanced locally. After that it's time to assemble. I'm sending the headers off for some updates that the fabricator made to the design. Selling the injectors and going with 100% over stock. Putting my turbo up for sale to be a tester for a 3" variable charger. Hopefully it all comes together towards the end of the month and is up and running by sometime in April.
