Pete not yet, I'll try contacting some people tonight and see what we can getting going. I still agree with what was said earlier than an interim president should be elected for the mean time.

Ok everyone, I just got a reply back from Rich on this subject. He said it is perfectly ok for us to elect a Vice President. Rich suggested this so when Terry does return we won't have to kick anyone to the curb. He also stated that he would like to be kept in the loop of things when we come to finalizing everything because there is some paperwork and rules that must be agreed upon by the winner. Hopefully JohnP will chime in and help me since he has talked to Rich as well.

The only question is how does everyone think we need to go about nominating people for the job? I'm not posting this for us to start screaming out I want _________ for Vice President. I just want us to agree upon how everything should progress. Thanks

Adam:

Thanks for your input.

Yes, I have talked with Rich and also ran this all by Jack Thorpe, Lary Ellis (Top) along with the other Administrators of this website.

When this NCDTR #18 Chapter was originally formed, our group of Members all met in Smithfield, N.C., up off of I-95, at the "Cracker Barrel" Restaurant there and nominated and then voted for President.

As everyone knows, Terry Eckert was and still is the President of NCDTR Chapter #18. In light of the fact that Terry is in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq at present, my suggestion is we all meet again, possibly at Smithfield again, to nominate and elect a Vice President until Terry gets back. IMHO, we should do this as soon as possible, to satisfy all the Members we have here. I would suggest maybe this upcoming Saturday.

Please give us your input on this.

Thanks.

I'm up for anytime John, maybe it can be planned later in the day than sooner since I have to feed the animals in the am hours on the weekends at the dairy I work at part time. Just to pass it along, if anyone from Lexington wants to ride down with me you are more that welcome to when we do get together.

O.K. guys, after kicking this around some more, a date of Saturday March 8, 2007 has been recommended. I would suggest we meet there in Smithfield, N.C. off I-95 at that "Cracker Barrel" Restaurant in that big shopping center there. I think a good time would be 9:00 A.M. Maybe we can get breakfast first and then nominate and vote for the V.P. position. This will give all the Members some time to plan for it.

Give us your input.

Thanks.

This thread got me to thinking about our first meeting down in Smithfield some 4 years ago.

I remember Terry (Original Junior) was the NC 18's President and we voted for other Chapter officer positions down in Smithfield. I thought John_P was already our VP, but I didn't want say for a fact without doing some research first. The following is a thread posted by Terry after our first meeting listing who attended, also listed is their Chapter title if applicable.

John_P is and has been our Chapter Vice President.

Mike:

Thanks alot for all your research and your great memory too!

In light of what has been found, I still think we should try to have a meeting and maybe re-elect the Secretary and Trustee Positions. I know that Tom Goodall has sold his 2003 Dodge CTD CR and has moved from N.C. up to Michigan. Also, we have not heard alot from David Winnett, so I will try to call him and find out if he is still interested in being the Trustee for NCDTR #18. Depending on everyones schedules etc. we should try to start meeting together around once a month and discuss what we want to do as a Chapter etc.

Mike, thanks again for all you did on this!

You're welcome, John!

I guess the reason those of us that have been in the chapter since the beginning had a hard time remembering "who" had what position speaks to the fact we've always tried to work together on the NC events.

Having John at the helm will provide any new/potential members a person whom they can contact directly for any membership question etc.

Whether a person is an "official" NC 18 member or not, makes ZERO difference to for me. The only thing that bugs me, is that, us "official members" will now have to share all the free diesel we've been getting as a perk with the newly minted members. As they say, membership has/had it's privileges.
