We're still cooking. Pat left his turkey the company gave him in the breakroom fridge, so we fried it up for lunch. Man i'm full and sleepy.

 

Anyway, you guys may notice my new sig on the 1/4mi times. I forgot to tell everyone i went to the last test-n-tune at MMP in Memphis and ran without the speed sensor fuse. Hence the new times. Forgot all about it with me getting sick and all rite after I got back from the Phillipines.

 

I've been pretty busy lately but dropped in to get a little advice. Found out my unit bearing is crap on the driver's side. Pretty scary how loose it is. I'm due for frt brakes also. When it rains it pours! Sooo when I have my front end ripped apart do I do ball joints and u-joints. I'm leaning toward yes, but I had a talk with my wallet and it ran away and hid. Lookin in the neighborhood of $1200. Just what I wanted. Scratch the exhaust and smarty.

 

Common sense says do them, but, the wallet has no common sense. If you can disassemble it in the future without damage to the unit bearings then I would not do the extra stuff. Just my opinion.

 

Good to see some folks still around. Sometimes it gets busy out here on the boat and I cant allways keep up the thread.

My trans is really hating life... I mean bad, it sucks when you want to pass someone on the mountains around here, and the OD slips horribly...I just hopes it lasts till Feb, when I get my income taxes and payoff racecar loan, and small credit card amounts... Then I will have about $4000 to spend on the trans, which i hope gets me to where I am safe with just the smarty...
I don;t really need the billet ftuff as long as i am not hooking and boosted launches do I??? Do you need anything billet if your running a triple disk Goerends converter??

I will tell you this, if the U-joint that is in the axle that goes from the wheel to the front differential goes out, you can expect to spend the $1200. If you have it that far apart, at least change that one.

It failed on me destroying the axel, unit bearing, seal inside of the axle tube, and that was with me stopping within 200 ft of it happening. I was going 70mph at the time on crowded interstate. Not fun...
