Kalamazoo County Truck Pulls

Hey guys, were getting close to our 3rd annual Kalamazoo County Truck Pull. There will 3 gas classes (Stock, Modified Small Block, and Modified Big Block), 1 Diesel Class (it tends to get pretty large), an Exibition Class (dielsel or gas), and a Street leagal Semi class. Tech starts at 4:00 and runs until 6:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, and first hook is at 7. Below are the rules and regulations

2009 RULES AND REGULATIONS


TRUCK RULES

1. There will be 5 classes of trucks:
Stock Gas - 6,800lb.
Modified Small Block - 6,000lb.
Modified Big Block - 6,800lb.
Diesel - 8,000lb.
Exhibition - 8,000lb.
2. No pulling from the bumper.
3. Both bumpers must be bolted on within 16” of the frame.
4. Must have some type of bumper, DMI, or Putnam style receiver.
5. Trucks must hook from a reese-style hitch.
6. Ballast may be added in the bed of the truck but must be securely fastened down.
a. Modified Small/Big Block and Exhibition Trucks: Ballast may also be hung from the front of the vehicle. All weights must be securely fastened down. Any ballast or external parts lost while hooked to the sled will be cause for disqualification.
7. Toolboxes need to be bolted down.
8. No wheel hopping.
9. The hooking point must be the rear most point of the vehicle and must be rearward of the the stock location of the tailgate.
a. A 3” clevis is required with a maximum of 26” high. Driver must provide clevis with pin through.
10. An OEM-style suspension is mandatory. No blocked springs or shocks. The suspension must maintiain a minimum shock travel of 1”.
11. No dual tires or tractor tires. Tires must be DOT approved. All dual rear wheel trucks must run with only inner rear tires.
12. Trucks must run stock fuel with no pressurized add-ons (NOS, propane, water injection).
13. Each contestant may spot the sled for their pull. Contestant must notify the track officials or sled operator before the sled is backed into track position.



STREET LEGAL SEMI-TRUCK RULES

1. Open to semi tractors only. No garbage, ready-mix, or dump trucks.
2. Semis must be DOT inspected and have a current sticker.
3. Drivers must have medical card and CDL or Farm-Use Endorsement.
4. Hitch must not be over 46” high. If you do not have one, one WILL NOT be provided.
5. No loaded tires. No cut tires. Super singles are allowed. All tires must be DPT approved.
6. No added or hanging weights.
7. No pressurized add-ons (NOS, propane, water injection).


Each driver and mechanic has an obligation to read the rules for their best interests.

In the interest of safety, drivers and mechanics are subject to, and must obey, the following rules and regulations, which are set up by the Kalamazoo County Fair where this event is being held:
1. Each driver must complete and entry blank, only one entry per person per class and two entries per truck per class.
2. All trucks must have current registration and insurance to be eligible. The driver of the truck must have a valid driver’s license. Those under 18 years of age must have a release signed by his/her parent or guardian.
3. A pit pass will be issued to the driver and 1 mechanic. Each additional pit pass will be $10. All persons must sign a release form and receive a pit pass to be allowed in the pit area or on the track. No one under the age of 9 is allowed in the pits, NO EXCEPTIONS.
4. NO alcoholic beverages in pit area or on the track. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alchohol or drugs will be disqualified and removed from the grounds immediately.
5. Trucks must enter fairgrounds at the South Olmstead gate.
6. Trucks must be inspected before registering. Inspections and registration will begin at 4pm and close at 5:30pm.
7. Passengers are not allowed in the truck while pulling.
8. Driver must wear seat belt while pulling.
9. Contestants are allowed two attempts within the 75ft. measurement. Driver must make an honest effort to stop before the marker.
10. The number one puller will be the test puller and may take the pull if the working conditions of the weight machine are satisfactory. Driver will have the option to take the pull or drop to the 6th pulling position. All decisions on re-pulls must be made before leaving the track.
11. Any driver or crew member disobeying the rules will cause his/her truck to be disqualified. Unsportsmanlike conduct, reckless/careless driving will not be tolerated and is cause for disqualification from current and/or future events.
12. If you are disqualified there will be no refunds.
13. On the day of the event, once the first pull begins there will be no refunds.
14. If you pre-register and cannot attend, your money will NOT be refunded after _____________, 2009.
15. The results will be based on a floating finish.
16. Each class will be closed to additional entries once the first call for that class is announced.
17. The fair is not responsible for any vehicles, parts, or personal property before, during, or after the pulls.
18. If decided by the promoters at any given time, these rules can and will be altered or added to in order to facilitate the safety and integrity of the event. They reserve the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
19. The judge’s decisions are final. There will be no protest of rules.
