Im lookin for new tires and brakes

For the tires they need to be good for long hauls and need to be mud and snow capable. 315/75r16

The bfgoodrich all terrian aint really good for how i drive.


for the brakes they need to be able to take alot of braking (also im thinkin of gettin a exust brake)

if yall have any suggestion please let me know

 

For the tires I have Pro-Comp X-AT's, they are great in the short time I have had them on. TJ and Leonard both have them also, I would ask them. I have no idea about brakes, mine still work fine so I have not yet researched it.

 

As for tires start looking on the Web. I have bought quite a few tires on www.tirerack.com .
As for brakes i was told on here and now do it myself to buy the cheap pads for the front. Our trucks eat them up so fast it's not worth spending big bucks on pads to only have to do it again in a year. last pair i bought from Autozone were $20 and lifetime warranty.

 

well it funny i remember keene putting new front brakes on in nov and now i hearin metal to metal sound from the front when i hit the brakes. I know brakes dont were that fast

 

Yes they do Boots, I put several sets on my 01 in the four years I owned it, at 8 sets in 70K if I remember correctly. I can not believe that I do not have to replace them yet on my 06, I have always been hard on front brakes.

 

when you put the truck in mud and get stuck the brakes will wear out fast...ask me how i know!

as for tires, i like the BFG A/T's, i had very little problem in the snow last week when i drove the truck and i have quite a bit more power to try to hook up, even in 2wd they worked well, in 4wd they worked VERY well

 

i was look at the nitto tera grapplers

 

the terra grapplers are nice tires for lighter applications, but they are a very soft tire. the wear on them will be bad, and honestly the they aren't the best for gripping either. my dads stock 04 will burn the terra grapplers off on dry pavement leaving a red light, let alone when its wet. when his wear out he definitely will be getting something different.

 

I've got the terra grapplers on my truck and the only real problem I have so far is that when pulling my 5th wheel I can feel it push the truck around more, like the tires are flexing too much with side to side type motion that a big trailer will put on them in turns or a cross wind. Can't say as to their performance in snow and mud cause we haven't really had any real good snow down here.

 

I used to rant a rave about how great they were til i drove my old mans truck with a load on it...nowhere near as much as your 5th wheel but I still had a hard time staying completely in my lane with a 14' trailer and maybe a total load of 5,000lbs.

Definitely too soft for a rig that tows any kind of weight.

 

well i actually did get those cause as soon as i did my last post my front blew out. Im actually not sure if ther terra or durra. im pickin my truck up in a couple.now i regret gettin them. oh well i wont be relly pullin heavy loads. but brakes ill be doin myself

Does Dominator make them in that size? I have them in a 33x10.5 on my truck and I've put probably 50K miles on them at least. They were cheap too, and even did great out in the soppy mud for an A/T.

 

did you get load range E or D?
ive got E's and they handle a lot better than the D's my boss has.
but they definatly dont tow as well as my BF a/t's did.

 

I had the BFG A/T's in a stock size before and put over 75K on them before changing them out. I wasn't real good at making sure they were rotated as often as they should have been either. I didn't stay with them because I wanted a more agressive tread. I think next time I will go with the BFG KO's.
