Ive heard the nittos wear quick too. Pro comp xtreme all terrains look like nice tires and Ive had decent experience with BFG AT but they dont come in E range bigger than a 285 tire.

why the big fuss about E rated tires?

you can get a D-rated 315/70R17 and its max load is 3195lbs...but yet a 33x12.40R17 (305/65R17) is E-rated and has a max load of 3195lbs.

(ps if you wanna go bigger, a 37x12.50R17 is available, again D-rated, but rated for 3525lbs)

then you can go to a 22" rim and get 325/50R22 which is 35" tall, E-rated, and has a max load of 3305lbs...

at 3195 your tries are rated to handle 12,780lbs total. so lets subtract 8k as basic number for our trucks (tho im sure its closer to 7500 as i have to add weight to my truck to reach 8k) that leaves you with 4,780lbs of payload/trailer tongue weight.

what are you towing? 53' semi trailers?

seriously what im trying to say is if you want a 35 or 37" tire like the BFG AT, you will be fine with the D-rating unless you plan on moving loads that are well above what the truck is legal to or capable of handling.

FWIW- my 33x12.50R16 TrXus tires are E-rated at 3195lbs each and i sometimes pull loads of 30-40k...tho its usually for short distances

I prefer to get E rated tires if possible because I like it stiff (the tires that is). D rated tires usually arnt too bad but it really depends on tire pressure, sidewall height, and driving conditions. I like to drive my truck like a white Ferrari so the stiffer the better although the D rated BFG AT (315/70/17) were a nice handling tire when I had them, good wear too.

I second the bfg all terrains. Good tire. I've had them in the past and had well over 55k miles on them before replacing. They are my next tire once I get this lift on.

P.s. Still looking for hired help with the body lift.

I seem to notice on here about low mileage on th Nitto TG's
but I have had these tires on previous trucks and I have always done well with them.
I like the way they handle, and I may not get >50K like the BFG's but did over 40K on them.

I really want to try the Hankook RF10's but a little gun shy on the big jump in tire size. Wondering how big of a hit it will be on fuel economy and towing capabilities. I dont tow much, only haul my Jeep to rock crawl once in a while.
The Hankooks are also only D rated, but again, I dont tow much.

thanks for the feedback so far

MY nittos got decent mileage ~40k. but the traction stinks on anything but dry pavement and they feel sloppy with a load on them. i dont like the feeling that the tires want to roll off the rim every time i take a corner pulling the gooseneck.

BigE- if you want a stiff sidewall go to an 18-20" wheel with shorter sidewall. i've never felt a difference in my D or E rated tires, and if you know me at all i have a diesel truck thats taken MANY MANY MANY trips to well over 100mph. not that it was smart, but ive done it and my 35's (pro-comp XAT) prolly handled better than any of the 33's (BFG or TrXus)

I've benn tossing the idea of going back to a 35 again from this nitto 285's I have now. I really like my Nitto AT's, they did great in the snow last couple weeks.

Been reading about TPS sensor and adjustments... Transmission issues.
Question
I have shutter usually when starting to pull up a hill, if I let off the accel and then back on usually will go away, and then while running at 40 - 50 it will feel like it is slipping but after reading may be lock / unlock of the TC. I am a complete idiot when it comes to transmissions. Anyone want to take a ride and see what they think? I know I need (want) to replace it soon but need to make it last till late summer when I should have access to the $ to get a proper one and finally turn up the power on the Edge.

i have a set of 35x12.5 r20 pro comp extreme all terrains on my truck and have put about 40k miles on the and still have half tread left. it is an E rated tire. i have also ran a set of 35x12.5 r17 on my old truck and had 40k or so on them when i wrecked the truck and tim ran them for another 10-15k i beat the heck out of those tires doing burnouts, bumper pulls, sled pulls and drag racing. i have liked both sets of pro comp all terrains i have owned.

Chris bring it by and i'll go for a ride with you.
We need to check the line pressures on the trans, if they are good then you probably only need a VB and TC. Need to drop the pan and check to see how it looks.
Leonard do you have gauges & lines?

It will be a good while before I get new rims and tires. I'm sticking to running my 2nd hand 3rd gen rims and tires for now. They wear very well, feel good on turns, and tow great. I just have to live with the fact that they kinda look like peanut wheels on my truck. House projects are coming before truck mods right now but I will be changing up the twins setup in the spring since I already have everything to do it.
