Lilly's had an accident
The other day as I was coming home Cindy called and said Krysten called her in a panic cause Lilly had big gashes. Cindy thought Krysten was being overly dramatic but when I got home I saw different. I immediately called Cindy back and told her to rush home cause Lilly had severe damage. She was cut through all the fatty tissue on her shoulders and down the left hand side. It was just a big flap of meat. There also was another large gash in her left side that had a hole dug in. We got her to the vet. hospital and she was in surgery for about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. She stayed the night and is on anti-biotics, pain relievers and anti-inflammatory meds. That evening I noticed w lot of blood in the road right at the end of the drive way. Enough to make you think someone hit a deer. I think she was running down the yard along side the road and got too close to a vehicle and got side swiped. The vet said any smaller animal would have not survived the wounds she has. I am amazed that she actually walked back the front of the house and then around back and up the deck stairs, according to the blood trail. She's in a lot of pain still. Cindy spent the night out on the couch with Lilly in a portable kennel that I set up in the living room. I went to work late today so I could spend a couple of hours with to make sure she is doing OK. She seems to move around real good. I had to tie her hind legs together so she doesn't scratch out the stiches. Gave her just enough length to walk and squat to pee.
Anyway, I thought you all that know of her would like to know.
I attaching pics of the post surgery Lilly.

and of course the person didn't both to stop to see what they hit. we delt with this with my dog spike he was hit by a car and ended up having his hind leg broken and he was in a cast for like 6 weeks. i'm glad to see that she is doing ok and hopefully we will see her back and running around at the buck soon.
Man I am sorry to hear about your dog's accident. I hope all goes well and she gets back to normal. All things considering Lilly was lucky.
I know roadways are dangerous for our 4 legged friends. Our dog Zoe got loose and i think she chased a rabbit into the road where she was hit and killed. They didn't even stop. Denise ran out, picked her up and carried her back to the yard.
Best wishes to your family friend.
Peace

Dang Todd and family that sucks. Good to hear that she is going to be OK though. The next Buck event is June 21st, I hope that she is ready to go by then, its just not the same without her up there.
Hopefully she's well enough for the next trip to the Buck. Sorry to see it happen but I'm glad to hear she's doing well. All our wishes are for a quick and as painless as possible recovery for Lily.
Lilly is a wonderful and extremely sweet dog, we rode in the camper together during the TS trip and she spent most of the weekend around all of us hanging out at the campground and picnic event...this news is heartbreaking
...Todd I wish her a speedy recovery and my thoughts go out to you guys during this incident.

I hate that, but have been there. You do all you can do and still feel you can't do enough.
This is Woody. He got hit several years ago. Part of the shoulder and leg bones had penetrated the skin. Pretty nasty looking. He was gone for three days before my daughter saw him sitting in a field beside the house. Not sure how far he traveled to get home, but it took him three days! It was put him down or remove the leg. I love my animals too much not to do all I can for them. He don't do too bad for a 130# ball of fluff and love.

Thank you all for your kind comments. We will be taking her back to the vet on Monday so they can remove the drains and check her condition. I'm sure she'll be ready for the next Buck event.
