28 if was a half a tank you have a 56 gallon tank? I think you are right about your gauge being off

No real way to adjust them. Replace the sender, or go by mileage and not by the fuel gauge. At about 300 miles, refill it.

Where is the draw straw in relation to the sender float? It could be hitting the draw straw and not allowing it to fall all the way down. Just a thought.

Mine reads way off too. 1/2 tank to full takes 22-24 gallons. I just keep filling up from 1/2 to full.
