Been lurking off and on this site for ever it seems, but close to retirement and need to buy diesel Dodge to either haul trailer or camper. I live 15 miles from Mexico and was thinking of occasionally running the $2.00 diesel there. I plan on buying a 2002 or earlier but dont know enough about the "53" block problem to feel comfortable buying on my own. Is anyone here familar with a South San Diego Diesel mechanic or trustworthy shop to take a truck to for a "Pre Buy Eval" as I dont know much but willing to learn!! Great Site!!

If you buy a truck and want to run low sulfur diesel, make sure it is a 2007 or older model without all the emissions stuff on it.
