new guy, old vp44 probs

Hey, new to the board, old to diesel. 2002 cummings with the dreaded vp44 pump. It went out,. Any sugestions? Retro fit a 7100?

If you can afford the down time & expense , that would be the best , its a big job to do .
Also , then put in a mechanical lift pump , from what I've come across it seems that when the LP goes out on the vp trucks it makes the vp work harder shorting its life , much like the TQ being weak point on the auto trans .
There some outfits out there selling some upgraded vp pumps , but still the issue with weak LP & unreliable electric pumps .
