Hi
Hi
Hi there everyone
I feel like a bit of an imposter...............I do own a Diesel Dodge but an English one.
Its a Dodge 50 S56 and we are turning it into a fifth wheel hauler as I have bought and am in the process of importing a 35 foot Prowler to the UK and needed somthing to pull it with.
Because of the width of the RV I needed something that was over 3.5 metric tons GVW
The S56 is 5.5 so that will cover me for the legalities in the UK as well as give me loads of power to pull it with.
This Dodge is, I believe, what would be called a short bed Stateside
I have bought a Reese 16k 5th wheel sliding hitch with universal rails and I was wondering if anyone has information on installation etc as I need to get this truck ready for when the RV arives in a few weeks
I have searched the net for thees instructions but it is not easy-------any info I do find relates entirely to American Trucks and I can find no information on foot print etc.
The Prowler, I believe froom the photo's, has a pinbox extension
With the hitch pin 2 inches in front of the axle center I have a knats whisker over 40 inches clear to the back of the cab and about the same from the pin center to the back of the truck.
The three key pieces of info I need in order to get this truck built in time are:-
(1) how high from the tarmac is the average RV fivers pin box
(2) how high is the averrrage truck bed?
I need to know this so that I can set the bed height acordingly as we are building the bed to suit.
(3) What is the footprint of the 5th wheel and what is the length of the rails that this thing sits on?
I need to know this so that I can set the positions of the bed supports to allow the hitch to sit across them
I hope someone can help
