Hello from Washington
Ok, purchased a new 2010 Dodge RAM 2500 diesel truck last fall. Only have 2600 miles as of now. I'm a Toyota dealer tech by trade, but went off the reservation to buy this truck. This is my first ever Mopar product. I have purchased quite a few new rigs, but all have been Toyota. I wanted a diesel and they kept pushing theirs back and I needed one, so I jump. I decided on the Dodge for several reasons. First, my employer owns several Dodge dealers, so I get employee cost on parts, more in dept service and tech help if need. We also own a Chevrolet store, so that was on option also. We dont own and Ford stores and wasnt on my short list, but I dont mid Ford either, but wasnt on the short list. As a tech, I knew working on an inline is much easier than a V engine, that was a factor for the Cummins. Also the fact it was still offered in a manual tranny (got the G56) was another reason. And the very aggressive pricing on this truck. I got it for 10K under the MSRP. Probably the final factor. Chevrolet Duramax was closer to 7-9K more that the Dodge MSRP, and keeping in mind, I got mine for 10K under MSRP, I would of spent 18K more for the Chevrolet, their pricing wasnt aggressive at all. I even bought mine when the economy was real slow and most dealers where really pushing for sales.
Ended up special ordering my truck (did a dealer trade to get it) and order a 2010 crew cab, long bed, Cummins diesel, 6 sp manual, I wanted the 3.42 in LSD, I wanted it in white and a 2500, I wanted it in white, wanted the block heater/cord and power windows/doors, AC, cruise. I got lots more goodies, ie heated tow mirrors with puddle lights, power rear slider, power seat etc. The extra goodies was OK, but I had my minimum requirements, the dealer found me what I wanted, now I'm an owner.
I have been loading it up with all kinds of factory goodies.
Mopar slush mats, Mopar factory clearance lamps, integrated brake controller. I have added a Pro Tech toolbox, I'm a ham radio guy, so I added some radio gear and mounted all my antennas off the toolbox. I have a new set of take off Laramie alloys coming now and will mount them up at work next week. No more adds in my future. I'm fine with the power, do want to do away with regen and EGR, but wil do that in time. Doing it in a way where I dont void my powertrain warranty. (SIMMS and unplug EGR, no change to PCM software)
Thanks for listening.
