Had my truck for a while now... Looking for a friendlier forum.
I'm the owner of a 2001 Ram 2500.
Bought it a few years ago... I live near Washington D.C. but found the truck on eBay in Jersey... So I took my wife's car up, bought the truck, then loaded her car on a rental U-Haul trailer to take it home...
When I rented the U-Haul trailer, the trailer lights didn't work right... In troubleshooting, I found some wires twisted together under the hood and figured they were for some monkey mechanic work that the previous owner did, so I disconnected them. Truck ran great on the 300 mile ride back, towing a 600 lb tow dolly and a 2600 lb Nissan Altima.
Two weeks later, I found out that those wires were for the Dodge Dealership installed in-tank lift pump. I found out because the truck left me on the side of the road on the way home from work.
No codes, No poor drivability before hand, just a seized rotor in the VP44. I guess twisting wires together and wrapping them in tape qualifies for professional mechanic work...
Reconnected the wires and got 10 PSI out of the stock pump without the engine running. Engine still wouldn't start.
New VP44, an AirDog-2 165 GPH lift pump (With PROPERLY SOLDERED TOGETHER WIRING HARNESS) and a full set of Isspro Gauges later and I was back in the game.
Later, I found a decent deal on a Smarty S03 unit. I leave it on the Mileage tune because the 47RE makes me paranoid.
Anyhow, I'm a member on another forum but I'm looking for different points of view.
TurboDieselRegister requires a magazine subscription... I don't need a mag to look at the new trucks and be upset about what my 20 yr old truck doesn't have.
I guess that leaves this here forum.
How D'ya do.
