electrical problems 1997 Dodge Diesel PU
My 1997 Dodge Diesel PU 2500 is causing me electrical problems. When driving down the highway at night when I dimmed the lights etc. They would go out until I adjusted them again. ( Kind of scary) I ordered a new headlight switch and dimmer/turn signal/wiper switch. I installed both. All the lights worked except for the right front turn signal. I traced the wires at the steering column and found the right turn wire. I spliced the wire and ran a new wire through the firewall to the right front bulb assembly. Everything worked that evening. I went out in the am to put the dash, steering wheel components back together. I turned the ignition key on and heard the flasher sound. The right front turn signal was flashing without the switch being engaged. And the headlight switch when pulled out - the dash lights don't come on unless the headlight switch is turned to the dome light position. what in the world could have happened overnight?? I thought maybe the splicing of the turn signal wire was maybe a back feed? So I cut the hot wire loose at the steering column where I spliced it and just have a new single wire running to the right front turn signal. I am about to go crazy. I check the flashers mech as well. THX in advance
