Since you have the starter off the truck, if you have another vehicle to move it around with... if you can find a good starter/alternator shop, take it in, explain the problem, they might grab the starter, look at it, throw voltage through it, and could probably sell you want you need and tell you how to put it on in only a handful of minutes.

There is a great shop around here that I use, but I'm 2,000 miles north of you.
