will not shift into overdrive

Good day all -

my problem is this - I have a 03 2500 4x4 QC with auto. 62000 on the clock, and she's a fine ride. Over the weekend she sat, and on Monday morning I drove to work and no overdrive. All of the other gears shift fine, no lights, no other problems. I thought it might just be cold (although I am in AL, so cold to me is in the 20's F) so in the afternoon when it was warmer, she exhibited the same behavior. I drove to the dealer and they are wanting 750 for what the service writer could best describe to me as a crank position sensor. I don't even know if the 03 has such a sensor, thought it was only on the earlier gen trucks. Any info out there would be most appreciated.

First off , welcome to the site. 2nd, You have a 7/70 powertrain warranty on the truck with a $100 deductable. So you should be covered. If they say your not, go to another dealer. All 01.5 to 05 have a 7/70. Yes, your truck has a crankshaft position sensor.

Thanks, AirGrabber, but the problem was in a faulty PCM which had been RECALLED. Thanks to my (st)dealer for telling me about it... I spent three days researching it and came across the recall on my own......
