What to do?
What to do?
Took my truck to the dealership to have a tranny leak fixed. leak. It looks like it's leaking from the bell housing. They said it was the pan and the pressure line. Ten days later and $476.00 later it still leaks. I took it right back, left it run in the service lane making a made a puddle on the floor to prove it still leaks. Today they called said they cant get it to leak. They also said the crankshaft seems to have some end play that could be causing it to leak intermittantly I'm not so sure.
Sounds like they are leaning toward a front pump seal and possibly a torque converter. The truck just clicked over 178,000 miles. The body has some dings and is showing some signs of early rust. How much should I spend on this thing?
Opinions please.

Thanx
John [undecided]
Re:What to do?
Well, the first gens were a bit soft in the body...or at least mine was. You can fix anything with the engine and the tranny, but major body rust is almost impossible to cure unless you get new parts. Is the cab roof rusting above the windshield? Fo me, that was the kicker. I just did not feel like re-cabbing the truck and I traded it in.

On the other hand, if you like the truck, even if you spend a couple of thousand, what could you buy for the same amount of money???

Personal choice, IMHO
george
