Welding on the truck

Hello everyone,
I need to do some welding ASAP on the trailer hitch on the work truck, an '08 Resistol... Aside from disconnecting the batteries what other precautions do I need to take? I need to do this ASAP so any hints, tips and tricks are very welcomed!
Thanks!

Keep your ground clamp as close as possible to the weld.
