Vibration

I have a terrible vibration coming from what i believe is my transmission. It was starting around 70 mph, i thought i had a out of balance rear tire, BUT, today I hit like 75 mpg passing someone and the vibration and rumble got really bad. I slowed down to my usual 65 mpg and it was still rumbling ( sounds like tires feels like tires, but I left off the gass and hear a loud vibration rubbling roar. I found out it only seems to do it in overdrive or high end, it seems to make the rumble roar vibration now does it when ever i let off the pedal. It pretty much unable to drive over 60 mph without sound and vib, I wonder if it my overdrive, or my tranny, Seems like my tranny fluid is a tad high... other then that, I have no unusual wear on my tires, driveshaft is not loose, dont see any missing D/D bolts. Confused, anyone else heard about something like this happening?

could bew one of 2 things. I had vibration in mine before, jacked up rear tires off of grund and checked u-joints. one of them had slop in it. I changed all of the joints on that driveshaft and the problem went away. Another thing I have found out while changing the u-joints is that the balancing weights that are factory applied to the driveshaft are done so poorly. While knocking the u-joints out, the balancing weight fell off of the driveshaft. It was a small piece of metal and I did not think it would make that much difference, but IT DID!!! I mig'ed it back on and I have been vibration free ever since.

Good luck,

Gary

I crawled down on the ground ( in my dress clothes ( yes i got weird looks from my co workers)) under my truck yesterday at lunch banged on my shafts, and from the rear i had a weird noise I didnt like. I also noticed the ***'s from firestone that did my front end alighnment last week. left the clamps so high that the clamps were gouging the cross member below my engine.
So after noticin a weird noise in the rear shaft, I shimmed up and checked the front u joint, it was cracked, one cap was gone, and it was barely holding on. Man I am so happy it didnt break, It must have been worn out and all last week of pulling a heavy trailer must have broke it. And then of course when i romped on the gass to pass the mustang that pulled out in front of me in traffic then decided to go slower then the 55 speed limit, i finished it off. I was so freaked out, never felt anything go from a small tire like vib to a cab rattling growling noise so fast. I though I had ruined my tranny, or xfer case or something.. in the end, only ruinined U joints and a polo teeshirt.
