Bigger hammer and a good drift is what I used... not sure if this is preferred, but it worked!

I didn't have any problem with these - just used a medium-small flat blade screwdriver and a hammer. One good sharp tap on one of the clip ends and they backed off enough to then pry them out.

What a sign that your U joints are going bad?

Normally you can hear them - the sound changes with vehicle speed, although it's common to only hear it at take-off or at highway speed as a vibration.

And needle nose pliers. No problems with mine. Pressing them out is another story but a cheap 3 ton Harbor Freight shop press for $80 fixed that up as well.

Good luck.
