Turbo compressor wheel damage

There is a chip out of the front of my compressor wheel behind the nut and my turbo is making a funny whine when is spools down. It spins free and the shaft movement tolerances seem to be ok. Is this something i need to worry about? It has been making the sound for a couple weeks but i finally got around to taking a look at it tonight and im a little worried about it now.

I would be most worried about where did the chip in the wheel go and what caused it to chip. Hopefully the chip logged in the intercooler and what caused it also did. Even if the chip and FOD that caused it didnt harm the engine the balance of the comp wheel is off and will tear up the bearings in a short time. So main goals are what caused it, where did it go, and replacement of the wheel.

yeah i'm pretty sure that if the piece that chipped off is intact that it would get stuck. i'll try to post a pic of the wheel

since i need to replace the wheel i might as well upgrade cause there is no sense in replacing with stock parts that cost the same as upgrades. i promised myself that i wasn't going to hot rod it but oh well let the fun begin

I would be worried about it being off balance. It will wear out the bearing fairly quickly.
