Truck won't fire

I have a 92 dodge that seems to be getting fuel but will not start. Any suggestions. We have bled lines to make sure no air and changed fuel pump and fuel filter. Still no luck, It turns over but it won't start. Lost as what to do next?

Re:Truck won't fire

Diesels only need 3 things to start....Air....Compression....Fuel....assuming you have engine rotation....my guess is your not getting proper fuel have you checked the fuel shutoff solnoid to be sure its opening

Re:Truck won't fire

Yes we have tested this to make sure it is working and getting power. All this works, so we are still searching for other ideas. Please help.

Re:Truck won't fire

Crack an injector line or two. This will verify fuel delivery. Crank motor over and fuel should be present. Be careful, diesel fuel can pentrate your skin.
The 92 Ram has one battery. If it is weak, it is possible that it does not have enough juice to turn motor over fast enough to start, (not likely, but possible). If you have a block heater, plug it in to give the motor every advantage. Verify the fuel and advise your findings.
John

We are getting fuel to the injector lines. We will try the block heater. Please keep the ideas coming in and thank you for those who have sent some already.

Has this truck sat for a while? If it has fuel, what about a mouse nest or a rag in the air intake system. Pull the air filter off.
John
Re:Truck won't fire

It is getting fuel and getting air. How cold is it? Is the truck manual or standard? I am thinking pull start, if manual. The only other thing I can think of is: The battery is low enough on power that it is not turning motor over fast enough to start.
John

Re:Truck won't fire

it is manual and today it was around 55 to 60 degrees. It may be worth trying to pull start. Thanks and if you think of any other ideas please let me know.

rodeoman:
Are you absolutely sure that the start wire to the pump is working as it should? On my '89 the wire would vibrate loose...appear to be OK, but no connection.

Are you getting LOTS of fuel squirting from the injector lines? It should squirt all over the engine. Be careful.
Good luck

Re:Truck won't fire

Don't know how much help i'll be but, if it were mine i would try pull start, or spray a small amount of wd-40 into the intake, and crank.
On my loader there is a wire that can be disconnected on the injector pump that will prevent it from starting, not sure if the cummins has that or not, but i would get a test guage and check voltages out.
Could try jumper across the starter with the ignition on, saw a post on here about a guy doin that and his started right up, course you could burn the terminal lugs. (remote starter switch).
Neutral saftey switch, think it won't crank at all if this is out, just something to think about.
Hope ya get it runnin.
