Truck smokes, P0216 code
Truck smokes, P0216 code
A fiends truck has been having trouble lately (2001 2500 CTD standard output). For the past couple of weeks it acts up when it is cold (below 50). When cold and first taking off the engine has no smoke and no power when pedal is on the floor. It acts like it is being derated bad 30 MPH then suddenly it goes like normal after a minute or two. We scanned it and found the P0216 code. Worried about the VP. Today he went to start it and it started fine but was smoking white until revved up. White Smokes when you get on it. Has good fuel pressure 14 PSI or so all of the time. It is not a head gasket definently fuel problem. What do you guys thinks. Kind of in a hurry. Thanks to all.
Your VP is dying. Mine has been that way for almost 40000 miles. I am just waiting for the chihuahua to roll over dead before I shell out 10 Benjamins for a new one. Tell him to try this trick... once rolling turn key off and back on while still in gear and dead pedal should dissappear for a bit. Start saving your extra change.....
Good Luck with it,
Gary
Good Luck with it,

Would this include the power feeling like it wasn't there? Like the truck hits a wall as far as accelleration, and it just has no more power. Has a 0126, but no odd smoke.
Thanks,
Chris
Thanks,

That is it. In cab it shows a diffeterent code, but on the snap on scanner it shows P0216. He is checking for warranty for his reman VP today. He just bought the truck, hasn't even made the first payment.
