Truck dead on side of road

Truck dead on side of road

Temp is -10 here i think my fuel gelled. It will start and run about 15 seconds then sputters and dies .How do i get it going?

Gonna want to run some powerservice white bottle, or some heet, but make sure that you get the heet for diesel.

Your fuel bowl should have a fuel heater. That should help some.

As soon as i can get back to truck gonna try some 911 and new filter.Walked to grocery store -10 and got heet for diesel and dumped in tank ,will adding 911 be too much.Also batteries about dead as kept starting to get off roadway.

Put a battery charger on it asap.

I think if it were mine, I'd put a bit of the 911 in the filter housing while changing the filter, then see how it does...

changed filter and dumped in some 911 most went on ground .Got codes P048 and 2509

If the engine is turning over slower than normal [ weak batteries ] than do try to start , till you can charge them up or at least get a jump , as they discharge , they will freeze , then you will need new batteries .

I would not look to hard at these with low batteries .
Check fuel pressure .

I got truck to house space heater ,battery charger,and block heater going, hope that does the trick!!!!!!!!! Only problem now is plow is sitting in lot a mile from house.

Well now I have no fluid in filter truck only has 49k cant believe it would be the pump.Does fluid gell in lines to the filter housing? I gotta get this SOB moving tommorow .

sorry to hear about your troubles, i dont see why the fuel wouldnt gel in the lines pre fuel heater. that might just be your problem try tom when its a little warmer see what you get... good luck with it!

just got mine running after five hours i did it all then put a torpedo heater by the fuel lines let it sit for 20 min and now she is outside idleing right now hope this helps

Fuel can gel in lines, filters, pump, even in the tank.


Did you have any preventative measures in use prior to the gel-up, such as anti-gel treatment ??

Can you hear your lift pump when you cycle the key? if not maybe your pump gave up the ghost.

Fuel will normally gell in the filters first. Only in the line if it is untreated fuel in extreme cold.
There sure are a lot of gelling issues right now with these diesels.

I have read that in the real world, not on paper, the ULSD gels much easier than the old stuff.
