trans trouble?
My 04 cummins has been running great. However lately after long runs when I shift to reverse the accelerator gets stiff. It has started doing it lately when I shift to drive. It sticks in first gear. Is it the trans or what?
Welcome to DTR!
My old 47RE has never had this problem; Could you describe it a bit more in detail? By "stiff accelerator" do you mean the pedal is harder to depress, or the truck won't accelerate unless you mash the throttle? How about the circumstances around the sticking in 1st gear - hot engine, cold engine...?
A wee bit more information might help someone recognize your issues as ones they've encountered - and hopefully fixed - in the past
- again, welcome!

Thanks, Sorry im new at this. Exactly, the pedal is harder to press. It only does it when the engine is hot. If i give it enough fuel it seems to come unstuck and shift. Any help would be appreciated the truck only has 50,000 miles on it.
The 94 has a mechanical governor, and the control gate in the transmission valve body is actuated by what is called the throttle valve cable. If the cable gets a loose housing lock on either end, or breaks one of the plastic ends where the internal cable itself attaches, it will bind the throttle linkage. Start by inspecting the throttle valve cable, both underneath the truck at the transmission and on the bellcrank by the injection pump. Make sure none of the bayonet ends are unclipped or the plastic connectors cracked. Sometimes you have to pry the cable a bit to see the cracked plastic ends open up near where they attach to the cable. Also, check to make certain that the reference marks are properly aligned.
If that does not solve the problem, you may be experiencing valve body pressure binding. That is not user correctable unless you know how to service the valve body, and is normally the result of contamination getting past the filter during servicing.
