Tranny Band adjust
I have a shop manual that tells me for auto band adjust front band torque to 72 in-lbs and back off 1-7/8 turns. Back band torque to 72 in-lbs and back off 3 turns. these specs are for the 47re and the latest year I have is the 98 model. Are the specs for the 2001 model the same? I would appreciate any input or experience from anyone that knows.:D

Most diesel tranny gurus recommend not adjusting your bands routinely but rather only if you have slippage in 1st or reverse. Most times routine adjustment just causes faster tranny wear.

if you have a slipy trany adj. the bands will not help........unless they are a mile out then you will or could get a dragged out shift...the band stops the sungear drum from turning (like a parking brake) works or not,,not of a lot of in between.

My trans is not slipping I was going by the repair manual and it suggested to adjust bands every time a trans service was done.

then your on the right course.....lots of after market (Tow and Go?) peo will recomend a slightly diff adj.- but if it close it will work just fine.
