Timing the 12v using piers lift chart

Tell me if I'm wrong.. but when using the charts for plunger lift on piers website (www.piersdiesel.com), it isn't clear in saying that the lifts are what you want at top dead center or if that's the plunger lift at what ever degree BTDC.

I'm trying to figure out what plunger lift hieght I need to set my pump at to get 16 or 16.5 degrees advance.

I was thinking from looking at the chart that to set the engine to 16 degrees advance that you rotate the pump until you have 5.6mm's of lift, then pop the pump gear off, then rotate the crank to TDC then pop the gear back on and be done. Or do I have to set the pump at that particualar height and then figure out how far back to turn the crank to a certin degree?

I have the 96 manual 215hp pump.

The chart is for plunger lift at TDC. Here's the directions on pump timing from Dave Fritz's site. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1994/18-10-94a.htm

You have it right. Put the plunger at the lift you want, pop the pump gear, and put the piston back to TDC. That was the way I did mine and it worked. Before you retorque the pump gear take some brake cleaner and clean the pump shaft and gear. When you retorque the gear, I believe the updated torque is now something like 155 ft lbs. If you set it to factory it will over time slip back to where it is now. Are you going to pull the front cover off to do it? If so then you can tab your KDP if you have not done so already.

I already did my KDP. So I'm just using the puller from outside the cover to time it.
