Is there a rear hub inner brake,,,or

I think my rear end noise is an axle bearing. I pulled the axle and was surprised to see what look's like a small set of drum brake's. Heck, I'm not sure that isn't what my noise is.

I'm going ahead and changing the bearing's. Could this brake looking thing be making a noise. Is that a brake, or maybe a speed sensor or something. Thank's.

That is your emergency or parking brake. Make sure it is adjusted properly and not hanging up.....

Normally, on the backing plate, there will be a slot with a plug in it, that slot is used to access the adjuster for your parking brake.

Another way to do it, which used to be a Ford recommended procedure, is to measure the ID of your park brake drum, subtract .020" then set your shoes to that dimension. That would give them enough clearance to run free, but put your brake engagement right at the top of your brake pedal travel. I view this as a good thing, some people ( who forget to release the brake frequently ) don't.

Either method of adjusting works fine. Good luck with it
