Front disc brake rotor failure - need data please

Geno's has a brake rotor recall (#778) for 98 Rams. Same recall exists for GM (same date code on rotor even but different NAPA part numbers so the rotors are not the same). Geno's has great detail but the Dodge braking system is not the same and and I can't locate the date code on the GM. Anyone have a possible source for procedure for checking GM rotor date code like Geno has for the Dodge? I have a separated rotor (braking surface separated from the hub) on my GM Suburban that lead to an accident and am trying to locate the date code on that rotor and can't find it. Can anyone tell me where it might be on the GM rotor? Did Dodge and GM possibly purchase rotors from the same source and if so, does anyone have data on who manufactured the defective castings? Or, can someone point me to a GM source? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
AJG617

Call geno's and ask Andy if he knows of a GM source or might want to check with a local GM dealer. I will ask around in the morning if I hear anything I'll post it. Sorry I can't be more help.

I'm not sure if any of these will help but it's all I've found so far....... for recalls- www.autosafety.org, recall phone 800-222-1020, and a couple sites www.gyrhead.com (888-727-8748) and www.gmperformancetuning.com. Hope at least one of these will help, let us know if they don't. Take care.

thanks diezelchick. I've talked with clarence ditlow of autosafety.org and he sent me a bunch of info. I just took a look at the gmperformance website and there were 2 members and 263 guests logged on. Interesting comparison to these forums. I probably will call geno's to see if he can help. Thanks for all your effort.
