Frankly you are wasting your time with repairing/replacing the cover. When it cracks it means the bearing at the bottom of the gearbox, on the shaft where where the pitman arm is connected has wallowed out and is forcing the cover via the adjustment screw. You will just break another if you do the cover swap. What is worse you will run the risk of having the steering valves themselves jamb and force you off the road with a sudden jerk of the power steering to one side or the other. Oh yes, you will not be able to hold it back either!

You will be bucks (and your neck) ahead to replace the entire steering gear box with a good rebuilt unit. Once it is replaced go to a good aftermarket steering kit supplier such as Solid Steel and pick up a steering shaft stabilizer kit to keep it from happening again.
