Starting

I have an 06 Big Horn with 14,000 miles. Just bought it last week.

I just noticed the "Wait to start" sign is not coming on in the instrument panel. If I wait about 7 seconds to start the truck it just cranks and doesn't start. I have to turn it off, wait about 30 seconds, and then not let it sit more than 3 seconds with the key pre-engaged before starting.

Any ideas or is this a common problem?

I have an appointment Thursday to take it into the dealer. Thank goodness for Warranty!!

The lift pump will only cycle on for 3 seconds when the key is first turned to "on"

Does it start OK if you turn the key to "start" right away?

I haven't tried starting right away because I always thought that was hard on diesels? This is my first one. I know with my buddy's FORD he lets the glow plugs warm for almost a minute before turning it over.

cummins don't use glow plugs, but they do have grid heaters for the intake air that usually aren't needed above freezing, though they will certainly cycle above that

unlike F**ds, the Cummins is made to start right away!
