Speedo/odometer not working
Speedo/odometer not working
My speedometer and odometer havent worked for a bout two months now, and I finally replaced the sensor on the transfer case and they still don't work. What else could be the problem. Thanks, Matt
Verify that you got a functioning speed sensor, about a third of the new ones are defective in the box - thanks to Chinese made parts (even if it says Mexico, it was made in China and packaged in Mexico)!
If it is good, then you need to check your chassis and frame grounds. Make sure they are all clean and coated with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Then work your way down to the wiring harness on the inside of the cab where it goes through the firewall, check both sides for corrosion and dirt in the connectors. Also, check the termination to the circuit board on the instrument panel. Be sure you disconnect your negative battery cables and let it set a couple minutes before you crawl under the dash, or you can trigger the air bag!
If that does not fix the problem, have a speedo shop check the impedance on your speedometer head.
